Five years ago I was in Cairo for the Fourth of July. News came in that there was an American flag burning scheduled for  early evening. Of course I went. It was as friendly a gathering as a Fourth of July picnic. So given the time difference, I naturally filed a little dispatch to The Washington Post. I can’t find it online at the Post anymore, but this website has what appears to be a faithful copy.
